Meet Katie

Hi! I’m Katie, and I’m only mildly ferocious. Promise. 😉

AboutMe2

I’m a writer, currently working on Book 1 of a Speculative Fiction Trilogy that was initially intended to be one novel. As in singular. As in UNO. Unfortunately, my characters are torturing me, and have a lot more to say…as characters do. Please send coffee. Or a nanny. A nanny would be awesome.

Like most writers, I started writing stories when I was little. My first stories would technically be considered Fan Fiction, although I had no idea at the time that that was a thing. By the time I was in High School, I started writing stories of my own(+ some Harry Potter Fan Fiction), but also like a lot of writers…

Adulthood happened. And I believed another lie that most creatives end up believing and one point or another: THIS ISN’T GOING TO MAKE YOU ANY MONEY. At least, fiction writing anyway. I was not looking to become one of those infamous starving artists. Real talk, I like food too much. So I switched gears, and creative writing took the back burner. Life happened. I got married, became a mom, and got completely burned out at my day job. Sound familiar?

So I made a decision:

Maybe I wouldn’t be the next JK Rowling, but I was going to write.
Because writing is the only thing that I truly enjoy.
When I’m not writing, I want to be writing.
And I was going to make a living writing, even if I didn’t end up becoming super famous from my novels.

(FYI – Most published writers don’t JUST work on their own projects for the $$$. We tend to be a little “Jack-of-all-trades” -ish.)

When I’m not writing(in one form or another), I’m also a mom to a toddler monster, currently growing human #2, and wife to a Tech Junkie. We’re super nerdy(we have Dr. Who references engraved on our wedding bands, OK?) and have musical jam sessions regularly. I also enjoy Hockey, hosting family dinners for people who aren’t my actual family, making homemade wine, and EVERYTHING Harry Potter.

(I also grew up in a cult, but we’ll talk more about that later…)

I write about any and all of the above.
Welcome to my messy writer’s life journey.
